Farmers markets are lovely. I don't think many people would disagree with me on that point. Over this weekend my family and I went to the Minneapolis Farmers Market, which is very well known in Minnesota. My Aunt Sharon, Uncle Jeff, cousins Maddie and Henry, my mom, and my sister and brother were all here for family weekend. It was a brisk morning to say the least, but the sun was warm and I ended up being hot in my layers. Obviously I had to buy strawberries, and they were perfect. You know when you bite into that one perfectly ripe strawberry? ALL of them were like that. Insanity, I know. Along with the strawberries I picked up a big box of peppers and sweet carrots. Never had sweet carrots. Hopefully I like them. I was just about to leave and spare myself spending more money when I walked past the roasted nuts. If you have ever had the privileged of smelling warm, roasted nuts then you know I simply could not keep walking. I bought a package of cinnamon roasted almonds. They were gone before we arrived back at my dorm. No regrets.
Breakfast looked a little like this. Food makes me genuinely happy. Black: Coffee and Waffle Bar, the creators of this wonderful meal, are never disappointing. You go up to their counter, order your coffee and waffle (they literally only have coffee and waffles), an seat yourself among couches and refurnished wood. It has a very eclectic feel, and the environment is calm and bright. It gets crowded on the weekends, but it is open pretty late, so you can get your waffle fix at 7 pm if you so desire. I might have already gone for dinner a few times.... Anyway, their food is amazing. And very Instagrammable. Wonderful for a cute little date.
After stuffing myself, my family and I hobbled through my campus and I tried giving them a proper tour. University of Minnesota is so beautiful, there was no way that I could have messed it up. Everyone loved it. I knew they would. It is annoying to me that my school isn't very well known back where I live, because whenever I brag about it, no one really believes me. That's why it was so nice that everyone loved it so much, I finally had the conformation I wanted. My family was able to go to the football game, and get the whole tailgate experience. It was so nice to spend time with them, even if it was just for a day or two. Family is so comfortable, I always feel relaxed and included whenever I am around them. It was sad to see them go, but the weekend was so relaxing and lovely that I was ready to get back into my college routine.
